ZINC - IRON ALLOY (Zn-Fe)

Zinc – Iron is a zinc alloy coating that provides enhanced corrosion protection as well as superior lubricity, ductility and hardness.  Used with a trivalent chromate coating, this treatment meets the automotive requirements for no hexavalent chromium such as GMW 4700.  Micro Metal offers two finishes: BLACK and CLEAR.

Used with black chromate coating, the zinc-iron alloy plating system with a sealer provides 800+ hours of salt spray protection.   The black appearance is a very rich and deep look.

The clear chromate generally has a slight yellowish iridescent appearance to it and not a true clear.  In fact, studies have shown that the iridescent quality is essential in providing improved corrosion protection.  The clear chromate will a sealer will provides 500+ hours of salt spray protection.
